Blogging and Linking and Awards, Oh My!

by on March 29, 2011

My apologies for my lack of posting; I have been rather swamped with academic affairs and so forth. But I have returned! And to quote the giant underwater fish head from the the 5th-grade Cluefinders, the challenge continues!

So, first off, I have received the Lovely Blogger Award from Trisha. who writes a blog of her own and is one of the three host bloggers of the Chrysalis Experiment. *applauds Trisha* It came with a picture. Behold!

Like many awards, this one has rules of acceptance, which are as follows:

  1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link. Done. And thanks again, Trisha! *clapclapclap*
  2. Pay it forward to some other blogs you have newly discovered.
  3. Contact those blog owners and let them know they’ve been chosen.

Right, so, in the spirit of the award, here are a few blogs I have (relatively speaking) newly discovered.

1) Delorfinde @ here and here. There are shiny pictures and posts about noveling and NaNoWriMo! Neat!

2) The Hack Novelist, who is currently running a short-story writing contest.Β  Neat!

3) And, of course, the Chrysalis Experiment. I don’t know if you can award an, er, award to a group of bloggers, and technically I discovered them around the first of the year, but…hey. Still. Neat! (I like that word! Can you tell?)

There are myriads of other bloggers I would love to award the award (hello Department of Redundancy Department), but these are the ones I have picked for now. Bravo and huzzah to everyone!

One more thing before I close: I am already planning the next episode of the Caitlin Chronicles, in which our heroine faces off against her worst enemy yet…Susan (dun dun duuuuuun). For the first time in the Chronicles, however, I am going to let you, dear readers, determine at least a part of Princess Caitlin’s fate. To do this, I would like you to answer a simple question.

Which of the following three songs do you think is the MOST annoying?

1) Rebecca Black’s “Friday”.

2) The Song That Never Ends

3) It’s A Small World

Leave a comment with your vote; the song that gets the most votes will be the one Susan uses in the next episode to…well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Happy voting! πŸ˜›

  1. I’m going to have to listen to those songs tonight to give my answer πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the award on behalf of Chrysalis! πŸ˜€ and you’re welcome. hehe

    • Helpfully, I have updated the post to include links to Youtube videos of the songs. I’ve also mentioned it to some of my offline friends; so far, Friday’s leading with three votes; the others have one each. I love democracy. πŸ˜›

  2. OH.
I couldn’t even listen to the whole “Friday” song – but it gets my vote too. AAARGGGGGH!HHHHH

    • But…it’s so…profound. I mean, it contains such deep philosophical truths like “Yesterday it was Thursday. Today it is Friday. Tomorrow is Saturday. And Sunday comes afterwards.” Not to mention, “Fun. Fun. Fun.Fun.”

  3. Another great post!

Thanks for linking me! I found I had a comment-y-pingy-back-thingy (never known what they were called) and almost went into shock.

I know a more annoying song than those three. A couple, in fact:
    (A) Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s a great song, except when you have it in your head for an hour in a maths exam and can only remember half the words. What’s worse, you can’t sing it out loud, because it’s an exam.
    (B) So Long And Thanks For All The Fish. Again, I liked this the first time. If you don’t know it, look it up … πŸ™‚

    • I’ll definitely be looking that up. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy references FTW! And I’ve never actually heard the original Bohemian Rhapsody song, though I have heard the Muppet version. πŸ˜›

      • Delorfinde permalink

They used it for the beginning of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy film. It gets on your brain …

I vote for the Friday song. I thought it was an SNL spoof when I first heard it. Sort of like the Justin Timberlake box song.

    Thanks for the award!!
