Observations on Getting a Root Canal

by on October 25, 2012

1) The place where one gets a root canal in my area is right across from a travel agency. That must lead to some hilarious mixups.

2) The office, like many offices, has music piped in over the speakers. I appreciate the effort to enliven my spirits during a very stressful time, but I think “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang is overdoing it a bit.

3) As is “Call Me Maybe.”

4) Having a device that allows you to watch Spider-Man 2, on the other hand, is genius. Because nothing comforts one during a stressful experience like watching a movie where a mad scientist pummels innocent New Yorkers with his freakish robotic arms. That wasn’t sarcasm, by the way, that was totally serious. Side note: if your fusion experiment starts to go awry, and someone tells you to stop, STOP.

5) This has nothing to do with root canals, per se, but did you know there are thermometers now where they don’t even have to stick it in your mouth, or in some other area? They just hold it next to your head, and it reads your temperature via an infrared scan. That’s Star Trek technology, that is.

  1. “Celebration”, hahahaha… yeah no, not laughing anymore. 😉

  2. Those thermometers are great. They’ve used them for the kids for years and it’s much better than the alternatives. I think I’d rather go to the travel agency than to the dentist. It would be funny if they had a vacation package called the “Root Canal”.

You didn’t like the song choices, huh? How about Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot?”

    • Or maybe “It’s the End of the World as We Know It” (And I Feel Fine) by REM.
