Musical

by on February 16, 2013

This weekend’s Trifecta challenge was to write 33 words that include hyberpole. Or as Brian Regan might call it, “hyper-bole.” Funny guy, Mr. Regan. Enjoy!

Elena’s voice swelled in tragic crescendo. “I have Oreos, but no milk! This is the worst thing in the WOOOOOOORLD!”

Sam sighed. “Elena, real life’s not opera. You don’t have to sing.”

“Right.”

  1. This is terrific!

  2. and of course the mouth twisted expression, eyes slightly to the left when uttering ‘right’? …ok that’s what I envisaged at any rate. 🙂 I liked.

  3. I think Elena should have a hyperbol-off with JesterQueen’s Sam, then they should both go and live with Morgan, the worst mom in the unverse.

  4. Obviously, Sam has never had Oreos with no milk.

What are you talking about, Sam?! That’s a tragedy worth singing about!

    • One wonders why there aren’t more operas about Oreos but no milk. Someone should write one.

  6. Ha!ha!Imagine singing about everything-kids!Loved this superb piece:-)

    • You know, it’s funny, I hadn’t really pictured Elena as a kid, but apparently everyone read her that way. Hm. 🙂

      • We all have a kid in us-maybe Elena’s “kid” jumped out when we were reading;-)

  7. Heehee! Love it, the grandson is singing his wants and needs now. So annoyingly cute.

  8. No milk to go with the Oreos?! (Why are the Bee Gees suddenly singing in my head?) I love your take on this prompt 😉

    • I regret that the only Bee Gees song I know is “stayin’ alive”. Ah, ah, ah, ah, staying aliiiive….

my 8-year-old sings and dances about everything. I related immediately. well done.

    • Awesome. I hope, when I have kids, that they’re musically inclined as well. 🙂

  10. You never fail, buddy!

  11. If only life was more like an opera. I think it would be an improvement! Nice story.

    • It probably would. I for one think life would be a lot better if there were spontaneous musicals and operas.
